Academics
The new Political Science curriculum took effect in Academic Year 2011-2012. Due to the academic calendar shift which will be implemented starting AY 2015-2016, the academic year opens in August and the first term ends in December (formerly June to October). The second term begins in January and ends in May (formerly November to March).
Before, students in the Faculty of Arts and Letters spend their first two (2) years taking only general education courses. By the end of the student's second year, he/she applies for a program he/she would like to take as a Major. The screening process is rigorous and the highest standards are upheld. It is only in his/her third and fourth years that the student takes major subjects. Now, the student enrolls in the College already with a Major, and begins taking major subjects beginning his/her first year.
Students are required to finish 8 units of Physical Education (P.E.), and 3 units of either ROTC or NSTP (CWTS/LTS). They are expected to complete these requirements by the end of their second year.
